Many years ago activists and providers shared stories with us about how hard it was for them to obtain flexible funding to cover small but essential costs for their clients trying to exit homelessness—a bus pass, books for a class, tools for an apprenticeship, scrubs for a nursing assistant.
Their experiences inspired the creation of our Employment and Educational Opportunity Fund, which provides modest grants (up to $7,5000) to Connecticut nonprofits to enable individuals and families experiencing homelessness (and formerly homeless) to cover essential expenses to pursue their educational or employment goals.
